This pair of urn stands were made to carry a pair of large oriental urns in the entrance hall of Gamston Manor.

The columns were constructed from pine and turned by Peter A'Bear to a design by Jamie Hempsall.

They were then given several coats of gesso before the process of marbling was begun. The aim was create something that looked like marble but at the same time was demonstrably hand painted.

Layers of paint were applied using a variety of techniques.

Finally they were varnished and waxed to give them a 'flat' marble finish.
